Looking back, I don't quite understand how have I gotten to this point; how I've grew to love this stupid-looking plane and somehow relate to it. But honestly, I don't think it matters that much. I love this plane, and I'd want to visit the installations of any of the two variants sooner enough.

Intro

The Joint Strike Fighter program was a result of the merging of the Joint Advanced Strike Technology and Common Affordable Lightweight Fighter programs, and continued on the former's name for a while. The goal of this program was to create a fighter that would replace many of the aircraft serving at that time, which includes (but not excluded to) the F-16, the F/A-18 and the Harrier, among others I can't remember.

Many of the usual suspects had applied to participate in this program, but it was only Lockheed Martin and Boeing who got the contract to develop the prototypes. Lockheed Martin created the X-35, and Boeing the X-32. As we all know, Lockheed Martin won the competition, and got the contract to further develop their prototype to what is now known as the F-35, however with Boeing, most people only knew about the X-32's stupidly ugly (yet sweet) smile.

What is the X-32?
